When you strip away the promotional language and look only at peer-reviewed research, a very different — and much more modest — picture emerges than the one presented on the sales page.
Green tea (the core ingredient in the Morning Tea) has the strongest evidence base of anything in the blend, and even that evidence is underwhelming. A 2009 meta-analysis pooling 11 studies found that green tea catechins produced a statistically significant but small effect on body weight, and that the benefit was more pronounced in Asian populations than in Caucasian ones, with habitual caffeine intake also moderating the effect. A more recent 2024 systematic review looking specifically at green tea combined with exercise training found the same story: a small, consistent reduction in weight, BMI, and fat mass compared to exercise alone, with no evidence that green tea provided any additional benefit beyond what exercise alone produced. One analysis summarizing this literature notes that green tea's average effect size (roughly 1 kg of weight loss) falls below the threshold generally considered clinically meaningful, which is about 2.5 kg.
Garcinia Cambogia, another headline ingredient, tells a similar story. A systematic review and meta-analysis of 12 randomized controlled trials found a statistically significant difference in weight loss favoring Garcinia extract over placebo, but the effect size was tiny — under a kilogram — and gastrointestinal side effects occurred twice as often in the treatment group. The review's authors concluded that the clinical relevance of this effect is uncertain and called for more rigorous future trials. Perhaps more tellingly, the largest and most rigorous single trial of Garcinia — a 12-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 135 subjects published in JAMA — found that while both groups lost weight on a reduced-calorie diet, the difference between the Garcinia group and the placebo group was not statistically significant. In other words, the diet did the work, not the supplement.
Senna leaf (in the Evening Tea) is a stimulant laxative, not a weight-loss agent — any "detox" or reduced bloating it produces is from triggering bowel movements, not fat loss, and it isn't intended for continuous, months-long daily use.
What's missing entirely is any published trial of the finished, two-part proprietary tea blend itself. Every citation on the product's own sales page, and every third-party ingredient study we could find, examines individual compounds in isolation — usually at specific, disclosed doses — not this specific combination product at whatever dose it actually contains. One independent evaluation of the product's marketing made this point explicitly: publicly available materials relate to individual ingredients rather than any clinical study of the finished tea system itself.
